CyberKnife is done

Mom's series of CyberKnife treatments are finished now. The radiation should continue over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully, the pancreatic cancer will be gone at that point. Praise God. It's really a miracle that she's come this far.

They are now treating her for the primary liver cancer. She is tolerating all of the treatments relatively well. We don't know yet how she is responding. She'll have to have another chemoembolization treatment 2 more times. They are 6 weeks apart and it was pretty painful.

Please pray that she will be able to keep up her strength and for God's continued healing for both cancers.

May you all have a very wonderful Christmas. God bless you!!!

Cyber Knife

We got a call from the Radiology Oncologist. My mom will start the Cyber Knife treatment on Monday afternoon. This is a robotic radiosurgery system. Please pray for God's protection and wisdom and guidance for the medical staff as she undergoes the treatments. This treatment is for the pancreatic cancer and will be a series of 5 treatments.

She is now taking oral chemotherapy for the liver cancer and is receiving chemo embolization therapy as well. She has 2 more to go! Fortunately they are spaced 6 weeks apart as the procedure was painful and had difficult side effects. SHe's feeling much better now.

People have asked me how these treatments work... so I thought it was easier to direct people to these sites rather than try to explain with my limited understanding. I'm so thankful that we can trust in God and not have to lean on our own understanding!!

Mom is home!

Mom came home from the hospital last night and is doing much better. She'll be doing follow up visits with the cardiologist, oncologists and her primary care physician. Through all of these times, I have seen God's hand in the care my mom is receiving. It truly is miraculous to see how much her pancreatic cancer has shrunk. We are praying that the liver treatment will be effective as well.

I think all of this must be very draining on my father. He is experiencing intermittent pain in his hip and legs.

Psalm 18:1-3
I love you, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise,
and I am saved from my enemies.

Back from ER

I just got back from the ER and mom is doing well. They do not believe she has had a heart attack and they have checked for clots in her lungs... all clear! She had very high blood pressure and she was in considerable pain for a while because her pain meds wore off and the pain from her cancer was quite bad. They've given her pain meds and have gotten her blood pressure back down. They've kept her overnight for observation, but we're hopeful she'll be able to come home tomorrow.

I have to thank the Lord for the care she received at Hoag. The doctors and nurses and techs were all so nice. Even when they got very busy in the ER, they were smiling and courteous and so caring!!

It seems that the pain from the chemo embolization is also subsiding. Before the chest pain today, she was really starting to feel better.

Thank you all for your prayers and concern.

911

My mom had chest pains and numbness in both arms.
Her Dr. told her to call 911.
She is at Hoag Hospital. Please pray.

Thank You All.

Chemo Ebolization

Mom has started a new treatment, Chemo Embolization (sp?) and is experiencing a lot of pain. They said the pain would likely last a week. She is also feeling sick to her stomach. Please pray that pain will subside and that the nausea will go away.

She is also being prepared for the CyberKnife treatment which should begin soon.

With so many doctors, cancers, treatments... I know we have to trust this all in God's good care.

I thank you for your prayers!!

Linda
